Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A police constable was found hanging in a guard room of Union Bank of India’s branch at Sapna Sangeeta Road under Juni Indore police station limits on Sunday morning.
Preliminary investigation suggested that he had committed suicide in the wee hours of Sunday and he was depressed over an ongoing departmental inquiry related to a betting case against him, leading him to take the drastic step.
The incident came to the fore after his colleague found him hanging and informed the police about the incident. According to police, the deceased was identified as Mukesh Lodhi (35), a native of Bhind and was staying in Mahesh Bagh near Barfani Dham.
He had joined the police force in 2013 and was on duty at the bank to safeguard the treasury. Mukesh was previously posted at Vijay Nagar police station, but he was line-attached a year and a half ago after a complaint related to a betting case was filed against him.
A departmental investigation was ongoing into his involvement in the case, which allegedly had caused him significant stress. His brother Virendra said that Mukesh had been working at the UBI branch for the last six days and Sunday was his last day. He had a duty from 10 pm on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Mukesh’s brother Virendra claimed that he was trapped in a false case and was accused of taking money which is not real. A journalist was threatening him to get money. Later, senior officials started a departmental inquiry against him, which caused him significant stress.
Video call to wife before suicide
Virendra said that Mukesh had video-called his wife around 5 am but she could not pick it up as she was asleep. Later, she saw the missed call and came to know about the tragic incident.
