Haridwar, 06 December (HS). Police have solved the mystery of the dead body of a youth found on the banks of Ravasan river in Shyampur, Haridwar. Abhay Sharma (37), a resident of Delhi, was involved in illegal activities like betting and girl supply, and became a victim of the greed of his own friends. Recently, with the intention of embezzling Rs 30 lakh received from selling the flat, his taxi driver friends called him to Haridwar on the pretext of being a Tantrik. After killing him while drunk, an attempt was made to hide his identity. Police have arrested the main accused Neeraj Shukla. While the second accused is absconding. The deceased Abhay Sharma alias Honey (37), son of Sukhnandan Sharma, resident of 284 Sudarshan Park, Moti Nagar, Ramesh Nagar, West Delhi, was of promiscuous nature and was involved in activities like betting and girl supply. He had recently raised Rs 30 lakh by selling his flat, but his life was in danger due to his failure to repay the money to the lenders and his debauched lifestyle. Neeraj, who was Abhay’s friend and taxi driver, came under pressure from the creditors. With the intention of grabbing money, he along with Nagendra called Abhay to Haridwar on the pretext of being a Tantrik.
Both of them collected information about Abhay’s mobile, ATM password and bank. Then they made him drink alcohol and took him to Ravasan river. When he was drunk, he strangled him to death with a rope and disfigured his face with stones to hide his identity. After this, both the accused took away the deceased’s money and mobile phone and took the deceased’s bike along with them. Disclosing the incident at Mayapur outpost, SSP Pramendra Doval said that on November 21, the body of an unknown person was found on the banks of Ravasan river under Shyampur police station area. Looking at the dead body, it seemed as if murder had been committed. The deceased could not be identified at that time. The SSP said that not being able to identify the deceased was a big challenge for the police. Due to this, physical verification of about 1000 contractors and laborers living nearby was done. Thousands of mobile numbers were verified, but the deceased could not be identified. A joint team of Shyampur Police and CIU Haridwar was formed to investigate the matter and the responsibility was handed over to CO City Juhi Manral. Police arrested the accused Neeraj, son of Tribhuvan Shukla, resident of Vikaspuri, Delhi, near Canal Track Sonali Bridge and recovered Rs 1.04 lakh withdrawn from the account of the deceased from him. The remaining eight lakh rupees in the account of the deceased have also been frozen. The search for the second accused, Nagendra, son of Singhraj, resident of Bhuvapur police station, Tigaon district, Faridabad, is going on. The SSP said that through rigorous investigation and CCTV footage, the police has been able to get to the bottom of the case. The deceased was living a debauched life away from his family.
Along with betting, he also used to work in supplying girls in Delhi area. The deceased was very friendly with accused Neeraj Shukla, son of Tribhuvan Shukla, resident of Vikaspuri, Delhi and Nagendra (both are drivers by profession) for the last few months and was also fond of girling and betting. Since the deceased had a debt of lakhs due to debauchery and speculation, he had also borrowed lakhs from people through Neeraj Shukla. When the deceased did not return the money borrowed from Neeraj, the borrowers kept coming to Neeraj and demanding the money back. Meanwhile, the deceased had sold his Delhi flat for which he received approximately Rs 30 lakh. When the deceased did not return the money despite repeated requests from people, Neeraj Shukla felt that his lakhs of rupees were about to be lost. On this, Neeraj took Nagendra with him and as part of a planning, both of them spent time with the deceased day and night, drank alcohol together and secretly obtained the passwords of the deceased’s mobile number, ATM password, bank account number etc. Collected information. In order to not get back their loan and to grab the amount of lakhs left in the deceased’s account, the accused made a plan to remove the deceased from the way. The deceased was addicted to gambling and also believed in Tantrik procedures, due to which Neeraj had once taken the deceased to a Kolkata Tantrik.
