Patna: Ahead of Bihar assembly election, senior Congress leader and former union minister Tariq Anwar on Monday asserted that his party should clarify whether it wanted to do coalition politics or go it alone.

Congress leader Anwar remarked on ‘X’, “Congress needs to clarify its political strategy. They have to decide whether they will do coalition politics or go it alone. Besides, it has also become necessary to make fundamental changes in the organisation of the party.”

State Congress chief spokesperson Rajesh Rathore said, “Anwar is a member of Congress Working Committee (CWC) and has direct access to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and should express his concerns before them It is a big question in itself why Anwar has expressed his media on the social media?”

Anwar who is Congress MP from Katihar made the remark at a time when some of grand old party’s allies including Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah and Shiv Sena-UBT objected to AAP and Congress fighting against other in Delhi, apparently paving way for BJP`s landslide victory. There are allegations that Congress is responsible for AAP`s defeat on 13 seats in the Delhi assembly election.

“Why should Congress be blamed? Why was the issue of the opposition unity not raised when AAP contested polls in Goa, Gujarat, Haryana and other places,” remarked a political analyst Indrajit Singh.

In Bihar, Congress and RJD are two major allies of the grand alliance and both parties are most likely to contest Bihar assembly election together.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had already made it clear that the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc was only meant for the last Lok Sabha election. RJD MP Manoj Jha also echoed Tejashwi`s views by saying that the I.N.D.I.A alliance was a central idea.

After Congress’s third consecutive defeat in Delhi assembly election, the grand old party may find itself in a tight spot when Bihar assembly election draws closer and issues like seat sharing among constituents of the grand alliance come up for discussions.
