Urban District Congress Committee (UDCC) Raipur staged a dharna at Fire Brigade Chowk in the state capital on Wednesday to register a protest against the reduction in reservation seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Zila Panchayats.
While addressing the demonstrators UDCC Raipur President Girish Dubey said that the BJP government intentionally hatched a conspiracy against the OBC community by slashing the reservation of OBC in Zila Panchayats. It is stabbing in the back of OBC. The government decision will deprive the majority population from contesting in Zila Panchayats elections in the state.
Congress leaders and workers avowed that they will fight against this BJP government led conspiracy against OBC. The Congress leaders said they will expose the government in upcoming elections and claimed that the OBC community is with them. In the protest, leaders like Pramod Dubey, Aijaz Dhebar and others were present.
Similar protests were staged in other district headquarters across the state, Congress leaders claimed.
