Congress MP Imran Masood demanded in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the Saharanpur railway station be renamed after a Hindu goddess.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Imran said, “Saharanpur is a historic city, it is the abode of Maa Shakumbhari Devi. I request that Saharanpur railway station be renamed after Maa Shakumbhari Devi.”
Imran Masood also demanded that a direct train between Saharanpur and Allahabad should run saying, “The distance from Saharanpur to Allahabad High Court is 700 kilometers. There is no direct train to Allahabad. Therefore, a direct train should be run from Saharanpur to Allahabad. There is a direct Vande Bharat train from Saharanpur to Lucknow. It should be routed via Aligarh. This will benefit students studying at Aligarh University.”
Earlier today, speaking on Nagpur violence, the Congress MP held BJP-ruled state government for the violent clashes.
Speaking to the news agency PTI in Delhi, Masood said, “BJP people always run away from responsibility, they are in the government, then how Opposition is responsible. It is your failure. I want to ask them not to spread the hatred in society. Country will only run through love. Maharashtra is a good state, which gives economic direction to the country. If the people are migrating from there and farmers are hassled, then focus should be on them. The action should be against the persons responsible for violence irrespective of their religion, caste.”
