Congress’s Delhi in-charge Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin on Tuesday launched a strong attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Describing Kejriwal as ‘authoritarian’ and ‘opportunist’, he claimed that AAP and BJP have similar thinking. He said that the capital is being destroyed due to the alliance of ‘AAP’ (disaster) and BJP (disaster) in Delhi.

‘A nexus of lies and deceit’

Nizamuddin said, “The people of Delhi have understood the lies and deceit of Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi.” He claimed that when the country was battling the Covid pandemic, on one hand Modi was busy with the Central Vista project and on the other hand Kejriwal was converting the Chief Minister’s residence into ‘Sheeshmahal’.

‘Modi and Kejriwal have similar thinking’

He alleged that Kejriwal had said from the very beginning that ‘Modi is needed at the Center and Kejriwal is needed in Delhi’. Taking aim at Kejriwal, he said, “Initially he had come to show himself as a common man, but gradually he changed his car, removed the muffler, and moved to a bigger house. Now he has become a leader not of the common man but of a special man.”

‘Congress is fighting against BJP’

Rejecting AAP’s allegations of Congress helping BJP, he said, “Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are fighting the strongest against BJP. Every Congress official is active in the fight against BJP.”

‘Alliance with Kejriwal was a mistake’

Nizamuddin supported the statement of Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken in which he had said that it was Congress’s mistake to form alliance with AAP. He said, “It would be considered a mistake to ever stand at any level with a person who lies to the public.”

spoke on alliance after elections

When he was asked whether Congress would support AAP after the elections, he termed it as imaginary. “We are fighting to win the elections and we hope that Congress alone will form its government,” he said.

‘Loss due to alliance of AAP and BJP’

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s recent statement, the Congress leader said, “Modi is calling the Aam Aadmi Party a ‘disaster’. If they consider it a disaster, then why have they been tolerating it for the last 11 years? Why was no action taken?”

‘Congress will fight with full force’

He said that the top leadership of Congress and all the workers of Delhi will contest the elections with full strength. “Our aim is to save Delhi from the alliance of AAP and BJP. Congress is committed to protecting the interests of the public.”
