Beed Mosque Blast: Congress Claims Accused Shared Video Of Smoking Cigarette & Holding Bomb Hours Before Explosion On Instagram |
Beed (Maharashtra): An explosion occurred at a mosque in Ardha Masla village of Georai tehsil in Beed district, at around 2:30 am on March 30, causing communal tension in the area. Fortunately, since the mosque was deserted at the time, no one was injured. The police have confirmed that the blast was triggered using gelatin sticks, commonly used in mining and fishing.
The police have arrested two suspects, whose interrogation is expected to uncover details about the alleged conspiracy behind the explosion, which took place just a day before Eid ul-Fitr, one of the most significant festivals for Muslims.
Viral Video Sparks Controversy
Amid the ongoing probe, a video surfaced on social media, showing a man holding what appears to be a bomb made of gelatin sticks. In the clip, he is seen smoking and casually patting the explosive in his hand.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), alleging that individuals named Vijay and Shriram were behind the attack. She wrote, “A bomb blast occurred in a mosque in Beed, Maharashtra. The blast was done by Vijay and Shriram. Before the blast, Vijay had shared this video on Instagram. A bomb in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Is this the fear of law and order and police in Maharashtra? Shame on Devendra Fadnavis.”
However, there is no official confirmation linking the viral video to the Beed mosque blast, and it remains unclear whether the man in the video is one of the accused.
Police Investigation & Security Measures
Local police reported that a man allegedly entered the mosque from the back side and planted the gelatin sticks, leading to the explosion. The blast damaged the internal structure of the mosque, prompting the deployment of heavy security in the village to maintain order.
The village head immediately alerted the Talawada police at around 4 am, and an investigation was launched. The police are now focusing on tracking individuals who had access to gelatin sticks and determining their motive behind the attack.
