A St. Stephen Alumini
In his post, he said, “A word of tribute to @DasShaktikanta as he demits office as Governor of @RBI.”
Further, he went on to go back in time and flip through the pages of history to say, “Shakti was my junior in College, but I too had wondered whether an MA in History could take on such onerous financial and economic responsibilities.”
Shaktikanta Das like Shashi Tharoor and many other famous faces in the corridors of power is an alumini of the coveted St. Stephen’s College in Delhi.
In addition, at the time of Das’ appointment, many had raised concerns regarding his academic qualification to be government’s banker.
Tharoor further went onto add, “I am delighted that he proved more than equal to the task. He leaves behind an outstanding record of service to the nation.”
In addition, Tharoor also added, “. All the best in whatever you next undertake, Shakti!”
Shaktikanta Das, after serving a term of over 6 years, was succeeded by former Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra. The 1990-batch Rajasthan Cadre officer took over the office on December 11, as the 26th RBI governor for a term of three years.
