The Congress was dismissed for the third consecutive time in the Delhi assembly elections. The party failed to win a single seat and got only 6.34% vote share. Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav has reacted after this crushing defeat. He says that this time the defeat is different from the previous elections, and he also explained the reasons behind it.

“We made a perception of a triangular match” – Devendra Yadav

According to the Indian Express report, Congress leader Devendra Yadav claimed that:

  • “We succeeded in creating a notion among voters that this election was not two -way but a triangular contest.”
  • However, it could not be converted into the results, and the party did not get a single seat.
  • Nevertheless, this election has hoped the party that it can regain the trust of its old supporting class – Dalit, minority and disadvantaged community.

He said that the Congress had won the trust of these voters years ago, but after the rise of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) he became a supporter of AAP. However, he can return trust again.

“Our party has always been the first choice”

Devendra Yadav admitted that the absence of the Congress in the Delhi Assembly for the third consecutive time is a major loss.

  • Despite this, he said that the roots of the Congress are strong and the party has always been the first choice of Delhi voters.
  • He said, “We have to improve our strategy further so that we can return firmly in the next election.”

Congress colleagues support AAP

In the Delhi elections, the Congress suffered another major setback when coalition partners – Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Samajwadi Party (SP) supported Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) instead of Congress.

  • Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that you were the best position to defeat BJP in Delhi.
  • Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav also appealed to other regional parties to form a strong front to fight the BJP.

Wait for Congress

  • The Congress will now have to focus on winning the trust of its old supporters again.
  • The party will have to make a strong strategy compared to AAP and BJP.
  • Maintaining the trust of coalition partners is also an important challenge for the Congress.

The third consecutive defeat of the Congress in Delhi has weakened the party’s position further. Now it has to be seen what changes the Congress brings in its strategy in the coming years and how to make a comeback.
