Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The political landscape in Bhopal is abuzz after the explosive allegations made by State Congress President Jitu Patwari on Sunday. He claimed that several prominent persons, including Bhupendra Singh, son of Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, and BJP MLA Sudesh Rai, own expansive plots of land in Central Park.

This park is currently being developed by builders Rajesh Sharma and Kunal Builders, raising serious concerns about potential corruption and favouritism in land dealings. Patwari took to Twitter to highlight the discrepancies in land ownership, pointing out that while Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan was denied construction permission on nearby land, significant corruption appears to be occurring with these plots. He shared documents to support his claims and criticised the state government for being “immersed in corruption.”

The Income Tax Department had recently conducted raids on Rajesh Sharma and Kunal Builders as part of an investigation into tax evasion, which is believed to involve substantial sums amounting to crores of rupees. The department is currently assessing the extent of these financial irregularities.

Reports indicate that during these raids, IT officials discovered that the builders had invested funds from other individuals into their projects. When questioned by the media about his son’s land ownership, Jagdish Devda chose not to respond and instead held a closed-door meeting with BJP State President VD Sharma, the details of which remain undisclosed.

Recently, the Income Tax department had attached 24 properties of Rajesh Sharma. IT officers had also found that wife of Rajesh Sharma, Radhika Sharma, does not do any business but owns 16 properties.
