Pune Pub’s New Year Invitation Creates Row: Condoms and ORS Sent To Party-Goers |
While pubs and restaurants bring out several attractive offers to attract consumers on New Year’s Eve celebrations, a pub in Pune has stoked a controversy by sending condoms and ORS with the invite for parties.
A restaurant-cum-pub located in Mundhwa, Pune, has allegedly sent objectionable invitations to its regular customers, mostly youngsters, on the occasion of New Year. The invitations were accompanied by condoms and ORS.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Pradesh Yuvak Congress has filed a complaint with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, urging strict action against the cafe management. The complaint noted that the pub’s actions are unacceptable and go against Pune’s educational and cultural traditions.
“The distribution of condoms with party invitations conveys wrong messages to youngsters and creates misconceptions and bad habits in society. Pune, known as the educational and cultural hub of the country, has been damaged by such ‘cheap publicity’ stunts. Take strict action against the cafe management, and establish a strict set of rules to prevent such incidents in the future,” the complaint added.
Pune police ready for 31st
Punekars flock to pubs and city roads every year for New Year’s celebrations in Pune. The crowd brings with it a lot of issues such as drunk driving, rash driving, noise pollution, and underage driving. Therefore, the city police make thorough arrangements each year to maintain law and order in the city.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media on Monday, Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Pune, said, “For the celebration days, December 31 and January 1, 2025, around 3,000 police personnel have been deployed for public safety and smooth celebrations. 700 traffic police staff will be active at several places identified as risk zones, and action will be taken against traffic violators such as rash driving, triple seating, or wrong-side driving, etc.”
