Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has recorded the statement of a complainant in connection with the Sahara Land Scam. The complainant Manu Dixit in his statement accused the ruling party legislator and the officials of Sahara group of committing gross irregularities in land transactions linked to Sahara Group.
Dixit, in his complaint to EOW, had alleged that MLA Pathak and the officials of Sahara Group of companies cheated people and incurred huge losses to state exchequer. Appearing before the EOW officials, Dixit handed over more documents related to alleged financial irregularities.
Talking to Free Press, Dixit alleged that officials of Sahara Group and the companies owned by the MLA misled the Supreme Court. The court had instructed Sahara Group to sell land and deposit the proceeds into the accounts of investors.
However, the company officials and the MLA instead started selling the lands in Bhopal, Malski and Katni, he alleged. According to Dixit, in Maksi, around 110 acres was sold for Rs 48 crore to Synap Real Estate Private Limited; 100 acre in Jabalpur for Rs 20 crore to Naysa Devbuild Private limited, and the group also sold 100 acres in Katni to the same company.
Besides, in 2014 the Group had valued its Maksi land at Rs 125 crore before the Supreme Court, but it was sold for merely Rs 48 crores, Dixit claimed. He further alleged that 310 acres of land, worth over Rs 1,000 crore, was sold for merely Rs 90 crore to shell companies, and the proceeds were not deposited into investors’ accounts.
The EOW has initiated preliminary enquiry into the case and further investigations are underway. It is claimed that EOW had served notices on several Sahara company directors, members and officials but none have come forward to record their statements .
