Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra was arrested in Delhi on March 31 after being accused of raping an aspiring actress. But in a shocking twist, the complainant has now claimed that she was in a live-in relationship with Mishra, and denying the rape charges, said that she filed an FIR against the filmmaker as she was jealous of his bond with Maha Kumbh sensation, Monalisa.

For those unversed, Mishra is the director who offered a film to Monalisa when she went viral during the Maha Kumbh, and he is set to cast her in his next film. The complainant told the media that she was wrongly influenced by Mishra’s rivals and enemies, and they provoked her to file a complaint against him.

“I was in a live-in relationship with Sanoj Mishra for 5 years, and everything happened between us with my consent. I never said that he abused me or raped me. When two people live together, fights are bound to happen. And recently, when Mishra was in Manipur for the recce of his next film, some people instigated me against him and his equation with Monalisa, and they convinced me to file an FIR. Ab ye samajh lijiye ki Sanoj ji ki kismat kharab hai ya meri,” the complainant shared.

She went on to say that she was approached by advocates who said they will fight her case against Mishra for free as they wanted to help her. “I then submitted a written complaint against Mishra, but I never mentioned rape allegations in it. I also never said that Mishra drugged and assaulted me or threatened to leak my obscene videos. When I wrote the complaint, my advocate made changes and added these pointers in it and submitted it to the cops, stating that these pointers would make my case strong,” she claimed.

“I told them multiple times that Mishra did not rape me but the advocates coaxed me into submitting the complaint. I still stand by my statement that he never assaulted or harassed me,” she added.

The complainant has now said that she does not want people to think Mishra was a rapist and that she feels guilty about listening to others and doubting the filmmaker.

It is to be noted that Mishra is married to a woman named Shruti Mishra. However, not much is known about his wife.

As a filmmaker, Mishra has written and directed over a dozen films, based on the themes of social and political issues. Under the banner of his production house, he has produced films such as Kashi to Kashmir, Shashank, Lafange Nawab, Ghaznavi, Gandhigiri, Ram Ki Janmabhoomi and The Diary of West Bengal.
