Commonwealth Games in Gujarat: Gujarat is currently engaged in preparations for the Olympics. Ahmedabad may host the Olympic Games in 2036, but before that people are eyeing the Commonwealth Games to be held in 2030. On the one hand, sports villages are being built in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, on the other hand the position of Commonwealth Games in Gujarat has been almost decided.

According to information received from media reports, recently a meeting was held in the Chief Minister’s Office with the President of the Commonwealth Sports Federation, Chris Jenkins, in which officials of the Athletics Federation of India were also present.

Which Commonwealth Games can be organized? According to a media report, the places selected in Gujarat for the Commonwealth Games include:

  • SVP Enclave – Aquatics, Boxing, Basketball, Gymnastics, Kabaddi
  • Karai Sports Hub – Athletics, Triathlon
  • Narnpura Sports Complex – Badminton, Table Tennis, Judo
  • Statue of Unity – Beach Volleyball, Mountain Biking
  • Narendra Modi Stadium – Cricket
  • IIT Gandhinagar – Road Cycling, Hockey
  • Gujarat University – Netball, Shooting
  • Transustedia Ek Area-Rugby, E-Sports, Yoga
  • Mahatma Temple – Weightlifting, Wrestling
  • Vijay Bharat Foundation – Archery

However, there is no official confirmation about all these places yet. It is being told that not only all schemes and preparations are being made for the Commonwealth Games 2030 in Gujarat, but Gujarat is also preparing to take over the responsibility of organizing many other sports.

These include the Asian Weightlifting Championships and the Asian Aquatic Championships 2025, World Combat Games (2027, 2029), Under-20 World Athletics Championships 2028, Asian Youth Games 2033, World Police and Fire Games. Officials say that all hotels in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar have a total of 14,192 rooms. Therefore, it is being considered to organize all the sports by making these two cities a center.
