Indian weddings are known for their grand nature which makes it expensive. While wedding costs vary from a few lakhs to crores depending on the services included, an Instagram reel showed an anchor asking young people (claimed to be Gen Z) how much they would spend on their big day. What stunned viewers was the heavy money youngsters wished to spend at their weddings. They quoted eight-digit figures while mentioning how much they would desire to shell out for their weddings.

The video opened to show a girl expressing the desire to spend ₹6 crore on her wedding. It followed to capture another Gen Z person desiring to celebrate the occasion with two crore rupees.

Comedian Shah’s viral video

The casual approach of these youngsters wanting to spend a huge amount on their wedding caught the attention of a comedian named Rohit Shah.

Shah released a video on Instagram taking a hilarious dig at Gen Z and their desire to spend lavishly at their weddings.

“6 Crore is my entire life’s budget”

“I have no idea why these Gen Z people are so delusional, casually thinking about a 6 Crore wedding budget. For me, 6 Crore is my entire life’s budget. If someone gives me 6 Crore, I’ll retire, move to the mountains, open a cafe and spend my days playing cricket”, Shah said in his video.

“These people are casually saying Crore, like it’s nothing, while we millennials compare Uber and Ola prices to book the lowest one, or even end up travelling in a train”, he added.

In the video, he hilariously claimed this reel to be a clever idea devised by the IT department to know which kids’ parents and family have huge money. “I feel like the income tax department has planted secret agents who ask these kids about their wedding budgets just to track their fathers’ tax details and catch them for tax evasion. Then their dads will get into a crisis and it’ll take Gen Zs forever to sort things out”.

Shah’s video has gone viral on Instagram and gathered more than one million views.
