Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Lokayukta police conducted raid on the premises of joint commissioner, co-operatives, and found that he owns property more than 42% of his known sources of income, said officials here on Tuesday. The official spent Rs 75.53 lakh more than his salary in last 20 years.

In September, the joint commissioner Vinod Kumar Singh was caught red-handed for taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant. The official had demanded Rs 5 lakh to settle complainant’s problems. Later, the Lokayukta police had registered the case against the official.

He was appointed in co-operatives department in 1994. From 1914 to September 30, 2023, he earned Rs 1.77 crore.

What was found?

During the searches, the police found jewellery and cash worth 14.20 lakh, immovable property worth Rs 1.6 crore, insurance policies of Rs 6.69 lakh, paid bills of Rs 1.83 lakh, the cost of two cars and a two wheelers at Rs 7.20 lakh, fixed deposits of Rs 36.83 lakh, jewellery which was worn by his wife cost Rs 6.30 lakh, payment done through RTGS was Rs 48.90 lakh to purchase the properties, valuables used in the houses cost Rs 25.8 lakh. The accused earned Rs 1.77 crore and spent Rs 2.53 crore.
