With the passage of Waqf Amendment Bill, the Yogi government has started taking a tough stand against the assets declared illegal by the Waqf Board. The government has directed all the District Magistrates to campaign to identify the Waqf properties which are not registered in the revenue records and which have been declared a Waqf against the rules. These properties will be identified and further seizure will be taken.

Land that is not according to revenue records

According to the Revenue Department, there is no official record of most of the assets claimed by the Waqf Board in Uttar Pradesh. According to the revenue records, Sunni Waqf Board has only 2,533 assets registered. While only 430 properties of the Shia Waqf Board are officially registered. While the data released by the Waqf Board is much more than this. The Sunni Waqf Board has 1,24,355 properties and the Shia Waqf Board has 7,785 properties.

Officials clarified

It is being said that on a large scale, the lands of ponds, tanks, barn and even village society have been declared vaqf, which the government has completely declared illegal. Officials say that government land, village society land and public properties cannot be declared Waqf under any circumstances. Only those properties will be considered a vaqf that is clearly donated by a person.

Action will be taken against the culprits.

According to sources, in many districts, ponds, pastures, barns and public utility lands were declared and they were occupied. Now after a strong investigation in such cases, the land will be declared government property and returned. The government has made it clear that legal action will be taken against every property declared illegally and action will also be taken against the culprits.

He also claimed that Kumbh Bhoomi belongs to Waqf Board.

CM Yogi Adityanath came to Prayagraj on Thursday to attend the birth anniversary celebrations of Nishad Raja Guhy. Here he made sharp attacks by making a statement about the Waqf Bill and Mahakumbh. He accused the Waqf Board of encroaching on the land and said that his “arbitrary claims” will no longer be tolerated at public and historical sites. Addressing a gathering in Prayagraj, the Chief Minister said that the Waqf Board is making baseless claims on the ground in cities. Even during the preparations for the Kumbh Mela, he had announced that the land for the event is from the Waqf Board. Then we had to ask if the Waqf Board has become a land mafia?

Land mafia should not work in Uttar Pradesh.

He said that such encroachments have been removed under his government and the mafia has been chased out of Uttar Pradesh. According to CM Yogi, in the name of Waqf, encroachment was done at many places including the sacred lands connected to Nishad Raj. But it will not be allowed to continue. Despite their objections, a grand and divine Kumbh Mela was organized.
