Mumbai: Preventing cybercrime and catching cybercriminals will be among the biggest challenges in the future, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He assured that the Mumbai Police is fully equipped to tackle this challenge.
On Monday, CM Fadnavis inaugurated various initiatives of the Mumbai Police at the Utkarsh Hall in Azad Maidan Police Station, where he made these remarks.
Maharashtra currently ranks first in cybercrime control. In one particular cyber fraud case, Mumbai Police successfully saved Rs 12 crore. Anticipating the challenges of future cybercrimes, the Mumbai Police has already undertaken several initiatives. As part of these efforts, three state-of-the-art cyber labs crucial for combating cybercrime have been set up and were also inaugurated at the event.
In the presence of Chief Minister Fadnavis and Minister of State for Home Affairs Yogesh Kadam, a fleet of new police motorcycles, interceptor vehicles, forensic lab vans, and Nirbhaya Squad vans was flagged off.
Additionally, women and child support units across 87 police stations in Mumbai, a newly established video surveillance system at 216 police stations and Deputy Commissioner offices, and the police department’s “X-Handle” initiative were also inaugurated.
