A youth and other bystanders escaped death after a gas cylinder exploded on a highway in Tamil Nadu’s Salem on Thursday (January 30, 2025).
According to reports, the incident occurred at Chinnappampatti during the construction of a four-lane road. Horrifying visuals of the event have surfaced online, showing a flame emanating from a truck.
The video shows a man running towards the truck carrying a bucket of water to douse the fire. Another man tries to get closer to the burning truck when a massive explosion takes place.
It was fortunate that no vehicle was near the truck at the time of the blast, which averted a major accident.
Luckily, the youth and other passersby narrowly escaped death, with the youth sustaining minor injuries, as per reports.
The injured youth has been identified as 24-year-old worker Madhavan, who suffered burn injuries on his leg and collapsed on the road.
After the incident, locals rushed the injured to the government hospital.
In a separate incident last month, a tanker full of LPG gas fatally collided with a truck while taking a U-turn in the Bhankrota area on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, killing 18 people and leaving 7 others with burn injuries.
