Due to severe weather caused by Cyclone Fangle in the northern districts of Tamil Nadu and the delta districts of Puducherry on Saturday, Chennai Airport remained closed until 4 AM on Sunday.

The intense weather conditions at Chennai International Airport on Saturday led to dramatic moments, as flights struggled to land amidst powerful crosswinds and low visibility.

Horrifying videos of the landings have surfaced on social media, with users questioning why flights were allowed to operate under such dangerous weather conditions.

One aircraft was forced to abort its landing at the last moment, underscoring the challenges pilots faced during the adverse weather. Meanwhile, another flight managed to battle the crosswinds and land safely, offering a nerve-wracking experience for those onboard.

Cyclone Fengal, which made landfall along the coasts of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, has remained stationary for the past six hours near the union territory, approximately 30 kilometers north of Cuddalore and 40 kilometers east of Villupuram.

According to the IMD, as of 5:30 AM, the cyclone has shown no movement and is positioned 120 kilometers south-southwest of Chennai. It is predicted to drift westward slowly and weaken into a deep depression over northern coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry within the next six hours.

The IMD has issued a red alert for northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of southern Andhra Pradesh in response to the severe weather conditions.
