The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) unexpectedly released the CLAT 2025 results on December 7, ahead of the scheduled announcement date. While the reasons behind this early release remain unclear, the final answer keys for both CLAT UG and CLAT PG have undergone some modifications.
Candidates concerned about discrepancies between the marks obtained in the final answer key and the provisional result can now submit grievances. The grievance submission portal opened on December 8.
CLAT 2025 Grievance Submission: What Candidates Need to Know
Candidates who notice discrepancies in the CLAT 2025 results or final answer key can file grievances online through the official website of the Consortium at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
Discrepancies in marks calculated from the final answer key could significantly impact a candidate’s chances of admission to National Law Universities (NLUs), making it crucial to report any issues immediately.
As per the official notification released yesterday, the Consortium has formed a Grievance Redressal Committee, chaired by Justice G. Raghuram, former judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, to address these concerns. This is the final stage for addressing unresolved answer key discrepancies.
Key Modifications in the Answer Key
The CLAT UG exam saw the removal of four questions, and three questions in the logical reasoning section were modified. However, some objections raised by students in the English and Legal reasoning sections were not accepted. Similarly, the CLAT PG answer key saw modifications to eight questions, although students reported discrepancies in at least 12 questions.
Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court regarding the alleged discrepancies in the CLAT 2025 exam and a request for a delay in result declaration. However, the Consortium proceeded with announcing the results before the petition could be heard.
Grievance Submission Process
Candidates can submit their grievances starting from December 8, 12:00 PM. The steps to file a grievance are as follows:
Log in to your CLAT 2025 account.
Click the “Submit Grievance” button.
Select the nature of your grievance.
Describe the grievance (up to 1,000 characters).
Upload any supporting documents.
Submit the declaration form and click “Submit.”
What Happens After Grievance Submission?
It is important to note that no modifications have been announced in CLAT results based on grievance submissions in previous years. The Grievance Redressal Committee reviews the overall exam, but its findings and the complaints received are typically not made public.
The CLAT 2025 Controversy and Supreme Court Petition
On December 2, 2024, the Consortium released the provisional answer key and allowed candidates to file objections until December 3. This standard procedure became controversial as many candidates raised concerns over errors in the key, which could unfairly affect their scores and rankings. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court seeking a re-evaluation of the answer key and better grievance handling mechanisms for future exams.
With over 60,000 candidates competing for a limited number of seats in premier NLUs, even minor discrepancies in scoring could drastically impact candidates’ rankings and their chances of admission.
Key Issues Raised in the Petition
The petition highlighted the following concerns:
Discrepancies in Questions and Answers: Several questions in the provisional key were allegedly evaluated incorrectly, affecting scores.
Transparency in Evaluation: The petition calls for a more transparent grievance redressal process, including clear explanations for rejected objections.
Consistency in Process: The petition stresses the need for stricter quality control checks before the final answer key is released, ensuring reliability and accuracy in the evaluation process.
As the situation unfolds, candidates are advised to keep an eye on updates regarding the grievance redressal process and be prepared for further developments.
