Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Union Civil Aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will inaugurate the newly built state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower at the city’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport, on Sunday. He will also inaugurate the waste disposal plant built in the airport, which will make it the first zero-waste airport in the country.

Minister Naidu will first inaugurate the new ATC Tower, fire station and waste disposal plant. On this occasion, State’s Urban Development and Housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and MP Shankar Lalwani will be present. On the eve of minister Naidu’s visit, MP Shankar Lalwani inspected the airport and instructed officials.

MP Lalwani said that keeping in mind the future of the city, passenger facilities are being expanded at the airport. Along with this, detailed discussions have also been held with the Union Civil Aviation minister for the expansion of facilities here.

He said that a new ATC and technical block has been built at the airport at the cost of Rs 85 cr. The seven-storey ATC tower is double in area compared to the existing tower. Its total area is 180 square metres. The technical block is 4,410 square metres. The new fire station is spread over 1,491 square meters.
