Navi Mumbai: As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, a large-scale cleanliness drive, ‘Clean Water, Clean Mind,’ was carried out at multiple locations across Navi Mumbai under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde.
The campaign focused on cleaning water reservoirs and their surrounding areas with active participation from civic officials, sanitation workers, and local volunteers.
In Ghansoli, an extensive cleaning operation was conducted at Rajiv Gandhi Lake and the reservoir in Kharghar Sector 12. Forest Minister Ganesh Naik was present at the event, along with Assistant Municipal Commissioner Vasant Mundavare and Sanitation Officer Rajusingh Chavan.
Several sanitation inspectors, supervisors, and cleaning staff participated in the effort. Additionally, members of Sant Nirankari Mandal, led by coordinator Manohar Sawant, contributed significantly to the campaign’s success.

A similar initiative was undertaken at the Jewel of Navi Mumbai in Belapur, where Assistant Municipal Commissioner Dr. Amol Palve and Sanitation Officer Naresh Andher led the drive. The campaign witnessed active participation from officials, employees, and sanitation workers, along with volunteers from Sant Nirankari Mandal’s Belapur, Nerul, and Shiravane branches.

In Vashi Sector 10, the Mini Seashore area was cleaned under the leadership of Assistant Municipal Commissioner Alka Mahapurkar and Sanitation Officer Jayshree Adhal. Civic officials, sanitation staff, and a large number of Sant Nirankari Mandal volunteers worked together to restore cleanliness in the area.

Similar drives were conducted across other divisions under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Zonal Deputy Commissioner Somnath Potre, and Dr. Kailas Gaikwad. Solid Waste Management Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ajay Gadade and Santosh Warule also monitored the execution of the campaign.

“The initiative was successfully implemented across Navi Mumbai through collaborative efforts and public participation, reinforcing the city’s commitment to cleanliness and environmental sustainability. We intend to continue this initiative periodically in the city,” an officer from NMMC said.
