The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) conducted a major encroachment removal drive in Airoli and Belapur.

The action was taken after repeated notices were ignored by those involved in unauthorized constructions.

In Airoli’s Sector 3 (G-41), an illegal RCC building was being constructed without the required approvals from NMMC. ” Despite being served a notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966, the construction continued,” said an offficia.

Consequently, on January 27, the Encroachment Department carried out a demolition drive, leading to the partial removal of the structure.

The team utilized hammers, gas cutters, and breakers, with a workforce of 15 laborers and a supervisor.

Additionally, 22 unauthorised huts along the Uran Phata–Navi Mumbai Highway were demolished. This was a joint operation led by the Belapur (A Ward) and Nerul (B Ward) offices, ensuring the removal of illegal settlements. The demolition squad, comprising officers, 12 laborers, a JCB machine, and police personnel, successfully carried out the action.

The NMMC has affirmed its commitment to intensifying anti-encroachment measures and taking strict action against unauthorized structures across the city. Authorities have warned that similar operations will continue to curb illegal constructions in the future.
