Rainfall is predicted in Tamil Nadu

The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) predicted that moderate rainfall is expected in five districts of Tamil Nadu on May 14. The temperatures are also likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius. The rainfall is likely due to a cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining South Andaman Sea.

Why is Tamil Nadu experiencing rainfall?

Tamil Nadu is experiencing rainfall due to the Northeast Monsoon, which is characterised by winds blowing from the northeast towards the southern Indian peninsula. These winds pick up moisture from the Bay of Bengal as they move inland, and they bring rain to the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. The eastern coast of India, including Tamil Nadu, is positioned to receive rainfall from the Northeast Monsoon as the winds blow from the sea to the land.

Weather update for the upcoming days

Today, the AQI is expected to be around 93, which indicates moderate air quality in the city. The rainfall is likely to be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 30-40 kmph. On Thursday, the minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, respectively.
