Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The city sky appeared dotted with colourful kites on Makar Sankranti, which was celebrated with gusto on Tuesday. The kites with big tails dominated the firmament as the onlookers encouraged kite flyers by clapping.

People of different age groups flew kites on Makar Sankranti at different places in the city amid cold. Gufa Mandir, Kaliyasot Ground, Kaliyasot 13 Phatak Ground, Manuabhan ki Tekri, Sair Sapata, Ratibad were spots where sky appeared covered with kites of different designs and colours. People flew unique kites with their family members and friends. They captured photographs to make the day memorable.

Besides kite flying, people enjoyed traditional dishes made on Makar Sankranti. Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Corporation organised Makar Sankranti food festival at its unit Wind & Waves located at Boat Club. The unit was decorated with colourful kites and floral rangoli on a kite theme. The guests visiting the unit enjoyed kite flying along with delicious dishes prepared. Guests were taught kite flying in the corporation’s unit Sair Sapata.

The corporation’s unit 1909 The Crown of Bhopal Rooftop Restaurant was also decorated on Makar Sankranti and kite theme. Bonfires were lit on the premises and traditional dishes, sweets made of jaggery and peanuts, sesame were served to the guests. Hotel Lake View Residency and Kerwa Dam-based unit Picnic @ Kerwa were also decorated on the same theme.
