A 35-year-old all-rounder city cricketer, Imran Patel, collapsed on the ground while playing a league match at Garware Stadium on Wednesday evening. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival due to cardiac arrest.
A league match was scheduled at Garware Stadium on Wednesday evening between the Lucky Builders and Developers team and the Young Eleven team. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) administrator G. Srikanth was also playing in this match for the Young Eleven team.
Imran came to open the innings, but while playing, he complained of pain in his left arm and chest. As the pain became unbearable, he was asked to rest for a while and then go to the hospital. However, while leaving the ground, he collapsed at the boundary line. Srikanth immediately provided his car and driver, directing them to take Imran to the hospital without delay. He was rushed to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him dead after examination.
Recently, an eminent cricketer, Shaikh Habib, had passed away, and now, with the untimely death of the talented cricketer Imran, a pall of gloom has spread over the cricketing community in the city.
