Navi Mumbai: In a major action against land encroachment, CIDCO demolished a five-storey illegal building constructed without permission on a prime plot worth Rs 200 crore in Kharghar.

The demolition took place on Wednesday at Plot No. 36K in Sector-5, covering 9,800 sq. meters, where land mafias had occupied the area and built unauthorized structures, including tin sheds and other constructions. CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer, Suresh Mengde, confirmed the successful removal of all encroachments.

Despite multiple notices from CIDCO, the encroachers continued construction on the plot, leading to Wednesday’s decisive action. A large team of over 250 personnel was deployed for the operation, including officials from CIDCO’s unauthorized construction control department, local police, Maharashtra Security Board, Maharashtra Security Force, and Kharghar Police Station. Additional support was provided by teams from MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company) and the fire department.

Heavy-duty machinery, including high-reach boom machines, JCBs, Poklains, and gas cutters, was used to bring down the structure. CIDCO has reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against unauthorized constructions and land encroachments in Navi Mumbai.
