Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has taken strict action against unauthorized debris dumping on its land, particularly on plots earmarked for development.
A dumper truck engaged in illegal dumping was intercepted, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the driver.
During a routine inspection on February 10, CIDCO’s Chief Security Officer, along with officials from the Security Department, Engineering Department, and Police, apprehended a dumper (MH-46-AR-1008) at around 5.30.
The driver, identified as Somnath Mahale (44), a resident of Krishna Patil Chawl, Ghanasoli, was caught dumping debris illegally at, Gavhan village in Ulwe.
“Unauthorised debris dumping poses serious environmental hazards, endangers public health, and threatens biodiversity. We have registered a case with Nhava Sheva police and further legal proceedings have been initiated by the police under sections 271 and 62 of the BNS,” the officer said.
CIDCO has urged citizens to report any instances of unauthorized dumping through its official website. The corporation continues its efforts to curb environmental violations and maintain sustainable urban development, said the officer.
