Today is the festival of Diwali. Although Diwali comes every year but this time’s Diwali is special. Because India is celebrating Diwali on LAC after about four and a half years. On this occasion, Chinese and Indian Army soldiers exchanged sweets at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point. It is noteworthy that the withdrawal of troops from both the fronts of military confrontation in Depsang and Demchok on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh has been completed. Temporary structures, tents and equipment etc. have also been completely removed from both these places.
The important thing is that patrolling has been stopped in Depsang and Demchok areas of Eastern Ladakh for the last four and a half years. Due to tension on the border, Chinese soldiers blocked the path of Indian soldiers. India also stopped its patrolling. However, now a new beginning is taking place in the relations between the two countries. Patrolling is starting from today i.e. the day of Diwali. An agreement has been reached between India and China regarding disengagement from Depsang and Demchok.
Returned to pre-2020 status
The important thing is that the patrolling route has been decided on Wednesday. The armies of India and China completed disengagement on Wednesday and patrolling from both sides will start from today. India hopes that this will reduce tension with China on LAC. It is noteworthy that after removing the temporary posts and tents from Demchok and Depsang, both the soldiers have returned to the situation before April 2020. After the disengagement and verification process, the Army will start some initial patrolling today i.e. on Diwali and in the coming days, complete patrolling will be increased in all the areas.
