Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Several cities of Madhya Pradesh woke up to a dense fog on Sunday including Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Sagar, Damoh, Sidhi and Singrauli.
However, as the day progressed, the weather began to shift subtly. The days witnessed clear skies in big cities like Bhopal and Indore, but chills in the air persisted.

Now, rain system to become active
According to the IMD Bhopal, a rain system is now becoming active in Madhya Pradesh, after a spell of severe cold. Due to activation of western disturbance, light rain is expected in the state from December 23. The system can bring rain to Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Gwalior divisions.

IMD’s senior meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran stated that the rainy period will begin on December 23, with scattered rainfall in both the eastern and western regions. Due to this, daytime and nighttime temperatures may rise by 2 to 3 degrees. However, once the system passes, the cold will intensify again.

Scattered rainfall is likely in Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Narsinghpur, Narmadapuram, Harda, Betul, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Alirajpur, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari.
Temperature records
Nighttime temperatures have been steadily rising, with many cities recording temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius.
However, Pachmarhi recorded the lowest temperature on Friday-Saturday night with 5.3°C. Other notable temperatures include 6°C in Naugaon, 6.2°C in Khajuraho, 6.8°C in Tikamgarh, 8.2°C in Rajgarh, and 9°C in Raisen.
Among larger cities, Indore recorded 13.6°C, Ujjain 12.7°C, Jabalpur 11.6°C, Bhopal 10.4°C, and Gwalior 8°C. On Saturday, a drop in daytime temperatures was also observed.
