UP Warriorz all-rounder Chinelle Henry lit up the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, smashing a blazing 18-ball half-century against Delhi Capitals in a league match. Her quickfire 50 is now the joint-fastest in the league’s history, matching Sophia Dunkley’s 18-ball fifty for Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season.
Henry’s explosive knock powered UP Warriorz to a competitive total of 177, despite struggling for momentum earlier in the game. She was eventually dismissed on 63 runs, thanks to a brilliant catch by Jemimah Rodrigues, but the damage had already been done.
After the Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to field, UP Warriorz had a steady start. Kiran Navgire scored 17 runs, while Tahlia McGrath contributed 24 runs before Henry’s late fireworks lifted the team’s total.
For Delhi, Jess Jonassen was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets, while Marizanne Kapp and Arundhati Reddy picked up 2 wickets each.
In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a decent start and are currently at 37/1 after 6 overs. Captain Meg Lanning was dismissed early for just 5 runs, while Shafali Verma (22) and Jemimah Rodrigues (10) were at the crease, looking to build a solid partnership.
