Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasised the importance of India-China relations, describing the partnership as mutually beneficial, as both countries celebrated the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties on Tuesday, April 1.

In a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Xi referred to the relationship between the two nations as a “Dragon-Elephant tango,” which symbolises the harmonious cooperation between the emblematic animals of India and China.

According to a report by China’s state-run news agency Xinhua, Xi underscored the positive trajectory of bilateral ties between Indian and China, particularly following the tensions from the 2020 border clash in the Himalayas. He added that the long-standing relationship between the two nations exemplified the right choice of mutual achievement.

The Chinese president urged both countries to focus on peaceful coexistence and demanded cooperation, especially in international affairs. He further stressed the need for deepened communication and coordination to ensure peace and stability in border areas.

This anniversary marks a significant milestone in China-India relations, with both nations working to strengthen ties and foster greater understanding, despite past border disputes.
