A recent video surfaced from the forests of South Africa showed an angry hippopotamus running behind a safari vehicle with its fiery red eyes.
The video captured the angry hippo running behind the safari jeep trying to attack it. People onboard recorded the incident on camera and the visuals have gone viral on social media.
Uploaded online by a YouTube channel ‘Latest Sightings’, it captured the scene from a recent safari trip at the Manyoni Private Game Reserve, formerly known as the Zululand Rhino Reserve.

Hippo bites vehicle, leaves passengers screaming
The page identified that the incident took place when tourists named Katherine Gilson with Steve and Richard Teichmann were on a jungle trip along with their friends when an angry hippo ran behind their vehicle and nearly attacked it.
In the chilling video, the animal was initially seen walking slowly on its land, undisturbed. Seconds later, it suddenly turned wild and started chasing the tour vehicle. The hippo angrily chased the safari vehicle and opened its mouth widely to bite a part of the jeep.
Netizens terrified after watching viral video
The incident left tourists screaming out loud, terrified.
However, when the driver increased the speed and drove faster on the reserve roads, the hippo stopped chasing the vehicle and stood back, giving a sign of relief to the people onboard.
When the video was uploaded online, it caught the attention of netizens and left them terrified too. The visuals of the angry hippo closely attacking the jeep and leaving passengers screaming in fear left internet users in chills.

The incident made people say, “Hippos are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa”. “The Hippopotamus has to be one of the scariest animals to have charging you”, read another comment on the viral clip.
