Kolkata, 09 December (Hindu). After a long gap, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Governor Dr. C.V. at the Raj Bhavan on Monday evening. Have met Anand Bose. After the long tension between Raj Bhavan and the state government, this meeting of both the constitutional and administrative heads is considered very special. After this, there is a possibility of cordial relations between Raj Bhavan and the government.
Detailed information on what was discussed in the meeting was not available, but Raj Bhavan sources said that it was a courtesy meeting. The Governor had invited Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Raj Bhavan, respecting which the Chief Minister went to meet him. His wife was also present with the Governor and there was a conversation between the two for about an hour. Governor Dr. Bose himself welcomed the Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan by giving him a flower bunch.
In May 2024, a temporary female employee of Raj Bhavan had accused the Governor of sexual harassment. This complaint was first lodged at Raj Bhavan police station and later at Hare Street police station. However, the Governor had termed these allegations as a conspiracy and said that this was an attempt to defame him. Under constitutional provisions, the Governor enjoys immunity from legal action in criminal cases while in office.
After this incident, Mamata Banerjee had distanced herself from the Governor and publicly said that she would not go to Raj Bhavan. But today’s meeting has increased the political stir.
