Mumbai’s South Cyber ​​Police Station has got a big success in the ongoing investigation against the piracy of the film ‘Chhava’. A 26 -year -old youth has been arrested from Pune in this case. The recently released film was illegally strengthened on several online platforms, causing heavy losses to the manufacturers. But this had no effect on the film. The film is still performing well in theaters. But a person has been arrested as it is illegal to stream the film on the online platform.

 

Producers suffered losses due to piracy.
Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Six’ was released in theaters on 14 February 2025. The film performed well at the box office but soon became a victim of piracy. After this, Rajat Rahul Haksar, CEO of Agastya Entertainment Company, lodged a complaint with the cyber police in this regard. He said that between 14 February and 2025, 1,818 illegal links of the film were spread on platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube and Google. These links violated the copyright law and caused heavy damage to the film’s revenue.

Who is the accused?
The police started a technical inquiry and found that one of these links was associated with Manik Ranwanwan, a resident of Ranwanwadi, Daund taluka in Pune. The 26 -year -old Sagar used to buy a domain from Hostinger and upload recently released films like ‘Chhava’. He also created a special app through which users could download the films by paying money. This was the source of Sagar’s illegal earnings, but he was caught by the police vigilance.

 

Accused in police custody
Sagar was arrested by the South Cyber ​​Police team on 10 April 2025 with the help of Daund police. The police led by PSI Rupali Chaudhary brought him to Mumbai. Sagar was produced in a vacation court, where he was sent to police custody by 13 April, 2025. The police is now investigating who else is involved in this piracy racket.

A case has been registered under these sections.
The cyber police have registered a case under several sections in this case. These include sections 316 (2) and 318 (3) of the Indian Penal Code, Sections 51, 63 and 65 (A) of the Copyright Act, Sections 6AA of the Cinematographs Act 6AA and 6 AB and Sections 66 and 63 (J) of the Information Technology Act. All these sections provide a strict punishment for serious crimes like piracy.
