Former adult film star and Bollywood celebrity Sunny Leone was found to be among the beneficiaries of the ambitious Mahatari Vandan Yojana (Mother Veneration Scheme) run by the BJP government under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Chhattisgarh.
A scammer created an online account using actress Sunny Leone’s name and successfully received Rs 1,000, a monthly payment given to married women in the state through the government’s Mahatari Vandan Yojana.
After the news spread, the District Collector ordered an investigation, and the accused husband was taken into custody. The accused husband has now given his explanation of the case.
After a post claiming to receive 1,000 rupees monthly under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana went viral on social media, police detained the accused husband. Virendra Joshi, who works for a private company, claims his Aadhar and bank account numbers were misused. During questioning, he also stated he had no knowledge of the monthly payments being deposited into the account under the scheme.
Notably, for the past 10 months, 1,000 rupees have been deposited into an account under the name “Sunny Leone” through the scheme. Interestingly, the woman’s name is registered as Sunny Leone, and her husband’s name is listed as Johnny Sins, who is an American adult film actor.
The case continues to be investigated by authorities, with the Bastar Collector ordering the Women and Child Development Department to conduct a thorough investigation into the irregularities in the Mahatari Vandan Yojana.
