Raipur: The Chhattisgarh High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Advocate General Satish Chandra Verma in the Naan scam case. The decision was given by Justice Ravindra Aggarwal after the final hearing on December 10.

Earlier, the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had also refused Verma’s bail request, calling the case very serious. After this, Verma approached the High Court with the help of senior lawyer Kishore Bhaduri, challenging the lower court’s decision.

The EOW has filed a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, against, Dr. Alok Shukla, Anil Tuteja, Satish Chandra Verma and other officials.

As per the FIR, Shukla and Tuteja misused their positions and influenced Verma to alter official documents and procedures. The three allegedly tried to modify records related to a case against the Civil Supplies Corporation to strengthen their chances of getting bail in the High Court.

The investigation into the Naan scam is still ongoing, with authorities looking deeper into the corruption allegations.
