Mumbai, May 19: In a major development in Maharashtra politics, Nationalist Congress Party-Ajit Pawar (NCP-AP) faction leader Chhagan Bhujbal is likely to take oath as minister on Tuesday (May 20). There are reports that the oath taking ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai at 10 AM tomorrow.
The ceremony is likely to be held amid tight security arrangements already in place.
Bhujbal’s likely induction comes amid speculation following the resignation of Dhananjay Munde, who previously held the Food and Civil Supplies portfolio. There are reports that Bhujbal will be appointed under Ajit Pawar’s quota in the MahaYuti alliance government.
While there’s no official confirmation yet from the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government or NCP, Bhujbal’s return to the cabinet has been widely anticipated. If finalised, it would mark a significant political comeback for the veteran leader.
