Kolkata Knight Riders have zoomed up to number five from being at the bottom of the points table of IPL 2025 following a massive 80-run victory over the SunRisers Hyderabad on Thursday at the Eden Gardens. However, the SunRisers have plummeted to the bottom of the points table with one victory in four matches.

Chasing an imposing 201, the SunRisers hardly got going and slipped to 9/3 well before the powerplay was done. The likes of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kamindu Mendis and Heinrich Klaasen tried their best but failed to make a match out of it. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy took three wickets each to bowl the Orange Army out for 80 runs.

Here is the updated points table:

Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran is currently the Orange Cap holder with 189 runs, while Noor Ahmad is the purple cap holder, taking 9 wickets.

“When we lost two wickets, the discussion was about consolidating” – Ajinkya Rahane

At the post-game presentation, Knight Riders skipper Ajinkya Rahane hailed his players for bouncing back the way they did after a poor performance against the Mumbai Indians. He stated:

“This game was really important for us, and winning with margin – that was really crucial. Batting first, losing the toss, we wanted to bowl first on this wicket. When we lost two wickets, the discussion was about consolidating and then when we have wickets in hand after 11-12 overs, guys lower down the order can score as many runs as possible. We learnt a lot from the mistakes. It is about staying in the moment now.”
