The official list of January 2025 bank holidays, which details closures in all of the nation’s states, was made public by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Banks will be open on January 4, the first Saturday of the month, in accordance with the RBI holiday schedule.

This complies with the RBI’s rule that, barring a specific holiday, banks must remain open on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays.

Customers should be aware that due to public holidays, banks will be closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of January 2025. Customers of banks should therefore schedule their visits appropriately, particularly for necessary banking services.

Several national and regional holidays will affect banking operations in different parts of India in addition to the scheduled Saturdays.

Access to the banking services on holidays

Holidays may cause physical bank branches to close, but consumers can still use ATMs, smartphone apps, and internet banking to perform simple tasks like cash withdrawals, bill payments, and fund transfers. The RBI holiday schedule states that in addition to the regular second and fourth Saturday closures, January 2025 will also include a number of regional holidays.
