The Uttarakhand government has decided to have a compulsory health check -up for devotees over 50 years of age on Chardham Yatra. To make the journey safe and easy, 20 Medical Relief Posts (MRPs) and 31 health check -ups will be set up on Chardham Marg. At these centers, pilgrims will get the facility of checking and treatment of health problems in high altitude.

Preliminary investigation will be done at the main stops of the journey

The government plans to conduct an initial health check -up of passengers aged 50 and older at major stops like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, so that any emergency situation can be avoided during the journey.

Learning from last year

More than 34,000 pilgrims were ill during the Chardham Yatra in 2024, out of which 1,011 had to rescue ambulances and 90 by helicopter. Based on this experience, the number of health friends (First Medical Responders) has been increased this year, so that the needy devotees can get quick medical help.

Two new hospitals in Kedarnath and Badrinath

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar informed that this year 17 beds in Kedarnath and 45 beds in Badrinath are being opened. 154 ambulances will be deployed on the travel route to provide emergency medical assistance to passengers, including 17 Advance Life Support Ambulances.

Specialist doctors deployment on Chardham Marg

During the journey, 47 specialist doctors have been deployed to provide better health facilities to pilgrims. These include 19 physicians, 23 orthopedics and 5 respiratory specialists. DG Health Dr. Sunita Tamta issued an order and clarified that the doctors on Chardham duty will not be given any kind of leave.

These efforts of the Uttarakhand government will make the journey of devotees more secure and convenient, so that they will be able to see without any health risk.
