Le Aadhaar card is one of the most important identity documents in today’s time. From opening a bank account to avail government schemes, it is needed everywhere. But many times it happens that we do not like our picture taken while making Aadhaar card or over time it becomes old and blurred. If you are also unhappy with your Aadhaar card photo, then there is nothing to worry! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows you to update it.
Can the photo be updated online?
It is important to know that you can update some information like name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number and email ID in Aadhaar card online (through UIDAI’s website or MAADHAAR app), but for biometric updates like photos, fingerprints and iris scans, you can go on a nearest Aadhaar Nomination Center (Aadhaar ENROLMENT Center) Will be there. Photo updating the facility is not available.
Photo updated process:

Take appointments (recommended on optional):

Go to the official website of UIDAI (uidai.gov.in).

In the ‘My Aadhaar’ section, select the ‘Book An Appointment’ option.

Choose your city/place and book an appointment. This will help you to avoid going to the center.

Go to Aadhaar Nomination Center:

Visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You can get their list from UIDAI’s website.

There you have to fill the Aadhaar update/correction form. You can also download this form in advance.

Submit the form and give biometrics:

Give the filled form to the operator at the center.

The operator will take your new photo from the webcam.

Also, your fingerprint and iris scan can also be again captured.

Pay fee:

For biometric updates (including photos), the fee (currently Rs 100) prescribed by UIDAI will have to be paid. Be sure to take a fee receipt.

Get update request number (URN):

After paying the fee, you will get an update request number (URN) receipt. By using this URN, you can track your Aadhaar update position online.

How long does it take?
It may usually take a few days to 90 days to update the photo update in the Aadhaar card. After the update, you can download your new e-Aadhaar from UIDAI’s website, which will have a new picture.
