Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy will be held in hybrid model! ICC gave ultimatum to PCB, said- believe the word otherwise

Champions Trophy 2025: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given an ultimatum to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The board asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to be ready to accept a hybrid model for hosting the Champions Trophy next year or face exit from the competition. Due to PCB’s stubborn attitude, the Executive Board meeting on Friday remained inconclusive.

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held next year, but the ICC has not yet announced the schedule of the tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already refused to send the Indian team to tour Pakistan. At the same time, PCB is also yet to agree on the hybrid model. Amidst this impasse, the ICC called a meeting of all the boards on Friday to discuss the schedule and venue of the Champions Trophy. But no decision could be taken. The meeting was adjourned for another day. However, an ICC source told news agency PTI that if PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi agrees to the hybrid model, the meeting will be held on Saturday.

“Look, no broadcaster will give a single penny to any ICC event that does not involve India and Pakistan also knows this,” an ICC source told PIT. The ICC meeting on Saturday will take place only if Mohsin Naqvi agrees to the hybrid model.

He further said that, if that does not happen, the ICC board may have to shift the tournament to another country (it could also be the United Arab Emirates (UAE)), but it will be held without Pakistan.
