Chaitra Navratri is starting from 30 April 2025. Nine days of Navratri have special significance in Hinduism. These days, along with the worship of the Goddess Maa, many people also fast for nine days. Fasting is not only spiritually important, but it also helps in detoxing the body, improving skin and gut health and also weight management. However, if the fast is not kept properly, then it may cause losses instead of getting the benefit. Many people make some mistakes during the fast, which prove to be harmful to health. Let’s know what mistakes should be avoided during the fast-
1. Do not overlay during fast
The purpose of the fast is to detox the body and to have a balanced consumption of food, but many people start eating more when they feel hungry. Eating something throughout the day not only affects digestion, but can also increase weight. So eat restraint and avoid overating.
2. Avoid eating more fried things
Many people eat more things like puri, cakes, chips, and fried potatoes during the fast. All these things are overwhelming on the digestive system and can be harmful to the body. It is better that you eat baked, boiled or roasted things during the fast and include fruits and vegetables in your diet.
3. Do not eat too sweet
During the fast, many people eat more quantity of kheer, pudding, sweets etc. This can cause weight gain in the body as well as increase the sugar level. It is better that you give priority to natural sweeteners like fruits and juices, so that the body also gets energy and the craving of sweet can also be controlled.
4. Take care of your health condition
Many people adopt very strict rules during the fast and do not even drink water. If your health condition is not good or you are struggling with any disease, then this kind of fast can be harmful for you. If you are suffering from any health problem, then take a doctor’s advice before fasting.
5. Do not take too much stress
Taking stress during fasting is not right for health. Stress can affect metabolism and digestive system. Therefore, to keep yourself calm and relaxed during the fast, resort to yoga, meditation and deep breathing. Also, do not forget to get enough sleep to maintain the energy of the body.
