New Delhi, 30 March 2025 – From today, Chaitra Navratri is starting a holy, which is considered to be a special festival of worship of Goddess Shakti in Hinduism. This festival begins with the Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month every year and nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped for nine days. However, due to the decay of a date this year, Navratri will remain only 8 days.
The first day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Shailputri, which is considered the first form of Maa Durga. On this day, Ghatasthapana is done, which is considered a symbol of auspiciousness, power and positive energy. Chaitra is a very special and limited time for the Ghatasthapana of Navratri which is called auspicious time.

- Duration: Total 4 hours 08 minutes
- Abhijit Muhurta: 12:01 pm to 12:50 pm
Keep in mind that the Kalash installation should be done on the Udaya Tithi, so it is considered extremely auspicious to do Ghatasthapana on 30 March 2025 today.
Worship of Maa Shailputri
The first form of Maa Durga is considered to be the daughter of the Shailputri Parvatraj Himalayas. His worship brings success in self -confidence, perseverance and new beginnings.
Method of worshiping:
- In the morning, get up in Brahmamuhurta and take a bath and wear clean clothes.
- Clean the place of worship with Ganga water and lay red clothes at a post.
- Install the statue or picture of Maa Durga.
- Light the lamp (pure ghee lamp is best).
- Offer the mother to the mother with milk, jaggery pudding, peda or sweets made of milk.
- Read Durga Chalisa, Durga Saptashati.
- Finally perform aarti and take a pledge to fast throughout the day.
Good color of Navratri: Orange
Orange color is considered auspicious on the first day of Navratri. This color is a symbol of energy, enthusiasm and positivity. On this day, wear orange clothes and worship the house with the same color.

Mother Shailputri is considered to be particularly fruitful to offer things made from cow’s milk in indulgence.
