The Central Railway RPF team at Kasara played an important role in saving a person’s life, displaying incredible teamwork, dedication, and humanity.
On January 1, 2025, the RPF Post at Kasara received a message from Ankit Garg, Sr. Section Engineer/Permanent Way, about someone fallen at pole no. 110/42 along the railway tracks.
RPF Sub-Inspector Ram Lakhan Kumar, along with his team, immediately reached the spot and found a person lying unconscious. The team quickly swung into action, transporting the individual to the nearest hospital where he was admitted for further treatment.
After completing the necessary formalities, a routine check of his bag revealed that the person’s name was Somnath Eknath Shinde, a resident of Igatpuri and a railway employee working as Track Maintainer, Bhandup Unit No. 1.
Shinde informed the investigating team that he was returning home from duty, had alighted at Umbarmali, and was standing on the highway when he was badly beaten and robbed by unidentified persons, who then threw him near the pole adjacent to the railway track. Medical tests revealed internal injuries, and his family was informed accordingly.
The RPF team, consisting of Sub-Inspector Ram Lakhan Kumar, Head Constable Santosh Bagul, and Official Vehicle Driver Mahipal Pandit, has done commendable work in saving a life.
The RPF team rightfully deserves the title of “Jeevan Rakshak.”
