He was initially given Z+ category central security as he was a family member close to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who died on 26 December last year at the age of 92.

Central intelligence agencies are reviewing security

Sources said that in a recent review of the security of Gursharan Kaur by central intelligence agencies, a provision has been made to keep her in the Z category, the second highest level of security. After this, the Union Home Ministry has directed the VIP security wing of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to reduce the number of personnel and protocols according to the Z category for Kaur.

Home security will be made available with private security

Sources said that along with private security, they will also be provided security of about 12 armed commandos for the safety of their home. He said that due to changes in security classification, the number of Delhi Police personnel approved for the former Prime Minister has been reduced.
