The central and state governments operate various schemes and scholarships to promote students’ education in the country. Recently, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget, in which several important announcements were made for the students. Apart from this, various state governments are also launching new schemes in the interest of students. Let us know which schemes and scholarships are available and how they can be availed.
1. One Nation One Subscription Scheme
The government launched the One Nation One Subscription Scheme for students in this year’s Union Budget.
Benefit:
- More than 1.8 crore students, teachers and researchers from 6300 government higher educational institutions of the country will benefit from it.
- Under this scheme, 30 major international general publishers are involved, publishing research papers.
- The government has set a budget of Rs 6000 crore for this scheme.
- Start: The scheme has been implemented from 1 January 2025.
- Registration: Registration of students has started.
2. PM Vidyalakshmi Yojana
The government has also launched the PM Vidyalakshmi Yojana, which was approved by the cabinet in November 2024.
Benefit:
- Students will get education loan of up to Rs 10 lakh.
- Interest rate exemption is given under this scheme.
- A loan is provided without any guarantor.

3. Haryana School Scholarship Scheme
Apart from the Center, various state governments are also running scholarship schemes. Recently, the Haryana government has launched a school scholarship scheme under “Education Excellence Promotion Scheme”.
Benefit:
- Students of government schools from 9th to 12th grade will join this scheme.
- Students who get 1st rank in class, who have at least 60% marks will get a scholarship of Rs 1000 every month.
