India has not been charged any mutual fee yet : US President Donald Trump has been threatening India to impose mutual fees for the past several days. In such a situation, today the Central Government has given a written reply in the Rajya Sabha that the US has not yet imposed any special tariff on India.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad of India said in a written reply that the US has imposed additional duty on the import of steel and aluminum from all countries of the world, which has not been exempted to any country.
India is reviewing tariffs
The government has said that on 13 February 2025, the US ordered an inquiry under a memorandum of how much damage the US was suffering due to mutual trade. A report will be prepared for all business partners in this regard and recommendations will also be made for the solution. America can take necessary action based on the report. India is reviewing this issue.
What did Trump threaten?
It is noteworthy that earlier US President Donald Trump announced that the US would now impose mutual tariffs. The country which will impose tariffs on America, that country will be imposed in the same amount of tariff. Trump has given a deadline for this till 2 April. Trump repeatedly named India and said that India imposes 100 percent tariff on America.
